An old window sash from the convent, typical of old double hung windows in need of replacement. Features include flaking paint, dried out glazing falling off, single glass with many cracked or broken panes, and balance systems consisting of ropes, pulleys and weights. Beside looking their age, the old windows were heavy, drafty and next to impossible to clean, but they were also a key part of the buildings historical look which the owners wanted to preserve. |

Like many historic buildings, the convent had beautiful stained oak interior casing which the owners wanted to preserve. The Marvin Clad Insert Double Hung Window is a full framed window that is custom made to fit perfectly inside the existing window frame without the need to disturb the existing interior trim work on installation. The interior wood surface of the window, pre-stained by The William Stanley Co. to match the surrounding woodwork, also helps preserve the window's historic look. |
